Everybody wants Jesus. The problem is that most everybody
wants their own version of Jesus. A Jesus that lets me do what I want to do. A
Jesus that lets me be who I want to be. A Jesus that helps me be who I want to
be. Or a Jesus that just lets me be. A Jesus that’s cool with my kind of
belief.
The problem is Jesus isn’t actually cool with that. You see, everybody wants a Jesus who suits their tastes. But the real Jesus changes your tastes. The real Jesus doesn’t fit your style until he changes you to fit his.
And that’s the problem with Jesus. And it’s why there are a lot of people who are fans of Jesus. But there aren’t a lot of people who are followers of Jesus.
