Peace in the Storm

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
(2 Thessalonians 3:16 – ESV)

When you’ve done all you can do
And yet no one else is true
There will be peace in the storm
When you know you’ve done it right
But there’s no one else in sight
There will be peace in the storm
When you feel you’ve been locked in
And there seems no way to win
There will be peace in the storm
When all the world’s against you
And no one will defend you
There will be peace in the storm
He won’t leave or forsake you
He’ll bend you and He’ll break you
He’ll mold you and He’ll shape you
And you’ll have peace in the storm

In some storms, the peace is there, and yet it feels like there's none.
The peace is not the world's peace, and that's what we look for at times, I think. At least I do.

But to know His peace is not of us, but of His Spirit.

I remember I went through a trial, and it was incredibly gut-wrenching, and I was seeking for the gut-wrenching to be gone, but it just wouldn't leave. It was a thorn, and I needed to have it embedded in my flesh to learn. And yet there was a peace, as faint as it was, it was there. Perhpas the next trial won't be so painful. i hope not. Nevertheless, His will be done not mine.

"He won’t leave or forsake you
He’ll bend you and He’ll break you
He’ll mold you and He’ll shape you
And you’ll have peace in the storm"

Amen! Thanks JD. Very edifying.

Indeed, Don, during these storms, the more we struggle against God the worse the pain will be...so the question becomes, "what am I to do, then?"....this is a good starting point, realizing that during the incidental and inevitable storms of life, we are not to simply remain passive, but to pursue peace...this may mean giving or accepting forgiveness, or any other of a number of things, but the truth is that we must pray and count on God's good Providence to shelter us from those things that wouldn't ultimately be good for us, trusting He will do so, and that is when we can have peace in the storm...

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you."

A few years back I was having severe headaches for about 3 months, which finally lead me to go Emergency and then to have a MRI done a week later and then the day after the MRI was performed my doctor called me and informed me I had a Brain Tumor. My first reation was shock, which is normal and then within a few hours peace came over me, peace that was given to me by God. I had more tests done in the months ahead and found out that it was beneign and a slow growing Tumor. I now get a CT Scan done every year to watch it growth. My Neuroligist says it is the size of a Hazelnut and is still in a safe place. I feel that's the Lord! I go again January 15th for my next Scan and still draw peace from our Savior.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.1 Th 5:18
