Supernatural Lies

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
(Galatians 1:8 – ESV)

People think they are special to God because they avoided danger in some fantastic way, or they think that they are on the right path, that everything is going to work out fine, and that they are “going to heaven” or something like that because some supposed supernatural occurrence happened to them, but they take that as above and beyond the bible in authority. They may even say they believe in Jesus or perhaps speak of some vague notion of God, but when discussing their faith what they talk about is in contradiction to the scriptures. They are placing their faith in that experience and not in God’s Word. Paul tells us plainly that no matter what supernatural things have been revealed to you, no matter how fantastic an experience you have had, if it is not in accordance with the gospel and biblical truth, they are not of God, not to be trusted and can be damning if your faith is in them not the true Jesus Christ.

Some fine wisdom JD. Thanks.

It seems to me the "angel of light", and his ministers of righteousness' most common lie is that being as nice as you can is good with God, or they may even add a list of do's and don't's, some a long list, but they leave out the Cross.

Paul said, "If I can be justified by keeping the law, then Christ died in vain."

And it seems to me that univeralism is making a come back as well. "God loves you no matter what. Your sin is not that bad", kind of deal.

I suppose we need to be aware of all the lies of Satan. But moreso have a strong hold upon the pure and simple truth of the Gospel of faith alone, through grace alone.

Have a joyful and blessed day in Christ.

It is interesting how most people I've shared with tend to bring up the fact that they've had "near death experiences" and think since they've been spared it must have some eternal significance. It may be that God is giving them another chance to trust in Him but it sure doesn't mean they are guaranteed eternal life with Jesus.

They were given mercy for now, but that doesn't mean forever...

I have seen that problem in my own witnesing as well, far too often, which is part of the reason for this post, of course...

That was in a nutshell. We could go on for a while. I haven't heard that many near-death experiences as much as I've heard the "I'm not as bad as those other people..." thing. And the universalism that DonSands talked about. That seems pretty familiar too. But that's why it's so important to Know the Word, so you can measure and check and recheck. 'Cause if it ain't True, get outta the pew.

Good one Mandi ;-)

This post is the description of why so many American churches should be concerned for its membership. Based on experience not on the word.
