Well then, have a blessed weekend, JD. I SAID HAVE A BLESSED WEEKEND. (You old geezer.)

I’m on heaven’s side of 40 myself. Last week, I heard a message from Ecclesiastes 12 directed to young people going back to school. “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth…” But then, the writer goes on to describe old age. It was like when Mom and Dad talked in code so the kids wouldn’t understand. He’s talking about losing eyesight, hearing, shaky hands, weak legs, light sleeping, missing teeth, etc. So I started to put a checkmark next to all that apply…

Happy--I SAID HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JD!

Happy 40 JD. I hit that milestone come November, Lord willing of course.

At Beacon (my local church) we have a tradition of recognizing birthdays and anniversaries on Wednesday night with a horrendously off-key version of "Happy Birthday to You" (which we will sing to Pastor Hunter this coming Wednesday for his 40th birthday - must be in the pastoral drinking water).

So, in my best off-key internet voice, "Happy birthday to yoooouuuu...."

My dearest David,
Happy Birthday sweetheart. The past 13 months have been absolutely the most wonderful of my entire life. Thank you! Since God started evolving our relationship I have grown spiritually beyond measure. I would observe you from a distance in awe that a true Christian man existed. Not only are you not afraid to preach the gospel and tell truth as it really is, you also live the gospel. I have heard more than one man in our fellowship speak of this also. How you are the godliest man they know. I do not share these things to puff you up but to encourage. A true and real relationship with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is what you have and we all desire. Thank you for being my mentor, my friend, my lover and my ensample of walking in Christ’s footsteps. I love you, I honor you, I cherish you. You are valuable and precious! I thank God for you! May He continue to grow us up in love as we worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Even so……

Your loving Elizabeth
