What Is Your Favorite Bible Chapter?

Alright, another simple one; we covered verses, and keep 'em coming in the comments for that post, but in this post I would like to know what some of your favorite Bible chapters are. If you would like, give us the "why". How have they impacted you?

As before, there are really no wrong answers...However, as last time, do not answer, "they are all my favorites", or give us some super spiritual sanctimony.

We want to continue to magnify the Word of the Lord!

Don't try and impress us with the one you think is the most theologically deep, and don't worry if someone else took yours or all the good ones or whatever, just repeat it. Come back and post more than one.

You have another chance to glorify God, and tell the world what His Word has meant to you, so EVERYONE speak up! That means you!

Alright, if I must be serious, as a former Christian Scientist (as opposed to a Christian scientist), I must declare John 14-17 to be my favorite four chapters of Scripture, in that they come closest to a much desired “The Doctrine of the Trinity: It’s Importance and Applications” (one book that JD & I would like to have been written, as Scripture, per his post of Aug 4).

These four chapters assert, in no uncertain terms:

a. the necessity & uniqueness of Jesus’ salvific authority- 14:6
b. the clear individualization & distinction of each Person of the Trinity- 14:1-3, 16-17,23-24,26, etc.
c. the corporate oneness of God, three Persons in perfect accord in every way.- 14:9-11, 16:13-15
d. each Trinitarian’s specific ministry to our specific need-

1. The Father: 14:10,26, 16:23,27 17:11,15,17,21;

2. The Son: 14:6, 15:13,16, 16:7, 17:2,19,22,26;

3. The Spirit: 14:26, 15:26, 16:7-15

I find much comfort in the fact that, 2000 years ago, Jesus ministered prayer for all of us who study Scripture:

"I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”John 17:20-24

When we study & believe in the apostles’ supernaturally preserved testimonies of the Savior (“their word”), we have proof here of Jesus’ intercession for us.

There are those who contend against the doctrine of a triune God, making statements such as “the word ‘trinity’ never appears in the Bible.” While true in that particular case, such barren arguments should be countered with the revelations of John 14-17, specifically concise statements as follows:

"If you love Me, keep My commandments, and I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” 14:15-17

”Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.” 16:7-15

These statements delineate three distinct Persons, with one distinct purpose.

This is but one of dozens of hermeneutical tangents possible to be founded upon John 14-17.

Colossians 2

This chapter tells us about the deity of Christ (2:9) and what His work accomplished. The fact that we were dead but have been made alive (2:12-13).

It shows that there is indeed legal aspects to the atonement that caused us to owe a debt now paid (2:14). It shows that a victory was achived (2:15).

Then in 2:16-23 Paul tells us that the Christian life is not about a set of rules. So much of false religion is exposed by these verses, with the final truth noted by Paul that the rules really do not prevent the indulgence of the flesh.

I would second your Romans 8, and add Philippians chapter 2 as well.

Also I John chapter 4.

None of those I mentioned were my favorites, what I was trying to do was to get people to talk about the chapters besides the obvious one's everyone loves dearly.

Psalm 91 is one of my favorites. I remember, even today, when I was alittle girl, this is the chapter my mom would read to my sister and I before we went to school.
I used to want my mom to hurry up. But now, when I read it, I have an assurance of hope.My challenge, making myself take the time to dwell in His Word.

Alright, now I will post my favorite:

Luke 18

One of my OT favorites is Micah 7. It's basically a Psalm, and the last 3 verses are the best ending to any of the prophetic books (IMO).

Psalm 6

This may sound odd but my favorite would have to be 1 chronicles 21. Some of you reading this will understand why. When I studied this and prayed about this and prepared to speak about this I could almost hear God speaking revelation to me. So when I reflect on this chapter now it reminds me of the closeness that I have with God and encourages me to keep on keeping on. God is real and he speaks to even me!

I have chapters from two books of the Bible that I consider my favorites because the chapters of the first book show God's love and mercy when He could have condemed and destroyed. The verses in the chapter of the second book showed me many years ago who God was and what He required of me as a Christian. These chapters are: Genesis 42-45 and Psalms 50:7-15 and 21-23. I'm sure I will think of other chapters of the Bible that have spoken directly to me or my situation at some point....but these are the ones I have pondered on from time to time and have been comforted or corrected by.

No surprise there, Dan my man...

BTW, everybody go see Bugblaster's blog today, Daniel has a "killer" set of posts over there, perhaps we will post them over here, in conjunction with some of my own thoughts, like a "stop sin" week...

I have really loved these answers, tomorrow I am going to ask you all about books. If you give more than one, rank them, I will provide an example...

My favorite chapters are definitely Matthew Luke, Mark, Peter, and Timothy but Luke 10:17 is very important to me. My childhood, before i was a christian was robbed by constant torment and fear of demons who lived in the home my family moved into. But i was blessed by this experience as it led me to Christ and a riddance of these demons. To make a long story short at church one day after losing my connection with the holy spirit through heavy drinking in college. I began to fear demons again. I prayed for help and I prayed to god to please forgive me and strengthen the holy spirit inside me as i know longer felt tingles and the presence of god while praying. I was so ashamed of straying from the path. Suddenly a random woman came up and said I do not know your name but god told me to tell you luke 10:17 she said i was chosen to be a mighty warrior for god and that in heaven god will give me back what was robbed from me as a child. She said She had a vision of me strapped down in chains on a table with demons around me scared i would break free. She told me if i broke those chains I would rise to be a very powerful warrior for God casting out demons and helping anyone i could. God answers your prayers. Praise Jesus and Gods heavenly Kingdom. Do not be so ashamed of falling from grace to feel so bad you cannot turn back to Gods love. Let the chains of sin be broken. May god bless you all
